Don't Give Up on Your Carpet: Combatting Old Stains

Carpet cleaning can be time-consuming, but stains are the bane of any carpet owner. Even worse are those stains that have been allowed to set, stubbornly refusing to come out by normal carpet cleaning methods. But don’t despair; it is possible to deal with even the toughest of carpet stains.

Here are some carpet cleaning tricks to get old stains out of your carpets:

Don’t scrub - First things first: never scrub your carpet stains. Scrubbing will at best drive the stains further down into the carpet, and at worse could damage the carpet fibers. Blot at stains gently to avoid these problems.

Home-grown solutions - For mud or alcoholic drink stains, you can mix ¼ teaspoon of white vinegar into ¼ gallon of water and apply the mixture to the area, blotting it away afterward. For blood or vomit, instead mix a tablespoon of ammonia into one cup of water.

Get help - Sometimes, a stain is just too stubborn to be removed by standard methods. When that happens, it’s time to call the cavalry: professional carpet cleaners.

Get help from the carpet cleaning specialists at Whitehall Carpet. Their expert staff will help you to find the best solution for your carpet cleaning needs.
