• How Can I Remove Coffee Stains on My Car Seats?

Some specialty cleaning tips for when the coffee hits the car seat instead of staying in the cup.

Driving a car with a coffee cup in hand

There are many reasons for needing specialty cleaning tips for your car. But coffee stains? Seems crazy to think you’d waste a perfectly good cup of coffee by pouring it on your car seat, but accidents do happen. And when they happen, you want to make them un-happen. You need some coffee stain removal tips, so this is for you:

    Tip #1: Don’t Wait

Coffee can leave dark, long-lasting stains. If your coffee doesn’t stay in the cup where it belongs, treat it as soon as you can. The longer it sits the harder it will be to remove. Plus, you’re probably sitting in or on coffee.

Tip #2: Follow Some Simple Steps

There are specific ways to clean up many things, and coffee is no exception. So follow these simple steps as soon as you can safely do so:

    • 1. Blot up the coffee with a clean, white cloth. Don’t leave it to dry; you want to soak up as much as you can, as soon as you can.
    • 2. Mix up some dishwashing soap and some water in a bucket or bowl. Use 2 cups water to 1 tablespoon of soap.
    • 3. Sponge the soapy water onto the coffee stain and gently rub with a soft sponge.
    • 4. Don’t over-wet the seat, and blot after each application of soapy water.
    • 5. Reapply soapy water and rub with the sponge until the coffee stains have been removed.
    • 6. Use clean water and a clean cloth to wash the soapy water out of the upholstery, trying not to over-soak the fabric.
    • 7. Blot the fabric to remove as much water as possible.

    Tip #3: Trust a Pro

Let’s be honest, this probably isn’t the first time coffee and your car seat have been introduced. If you’re a traveling coffee drinker, your seats could even be on first name basis with your favorite latte or cappuccino. So instead of working on that one stain, and then making a clean spot that makes the rest of your seat look bad, consider professional car upholstery cleaning to really get the dirt and coffee stains out of your car seats.

If you’ve spilled coffee, or anything else for that matter, in your car, don’t wait for it to set and for the dirt to stick, get it cleaned by a professional.
